Finance, Commodities & Trading
AI Summary
Data-dense product design under real stakes. As Vitol's sole product designer I turned thirteen disconnected internal apps into one configurable, Bloomberg-class operating system, built on the firm's own design system and data. I created the brand, app concept and investor pitch for Kaldi, a fintech that went on to raise a $513K seed round, and designed a private-wealth concept app for Royal Bank of Canada.
Finance is information under pressure, and information is a design problem.
Money moves on data, and the people who move it live inside dense, high-stakes interfaces where a moment’s confusion has a price. My work here runs from the trading desk to the consumer’s pocket.
Vitol
For Vitol, one of the world’s largest commodities traders, I joined as the sole product designer and turned thirteen disconnected internal apps into one coherent operating system. I unified the navigation and identity, built a supported design-system foundation, then delivered Detail Workspace: a single configurable platform where the company’s apps share the same data and live in one screen. In effect, Vitol’s own Bloomberg-class terminal, built on its own design system and its own data.
Kaldi
At the other end, Kaldi, a Gen-Z fintech that invests your spare change. I created the brand identity, app concept and investor pitch deck, walking the line between energetic and trustworthy, which helped the team raise a $513K seed round.
In between sits private wealth: a concept app for Royal Bank of Canada’s high-net-worth clients that brought a full portfolio (fixed income, equities, hedge funds, cash, trust and art) into one richly visual, motion-led view, alongside bank news, a direct line to the wealth team and a meetings calendar. Built as a proof of concept for RBC’s R&D team.
Whether it’s a trading floor or a first-time investor, the discipline is the same: organise the density, earn the trust, and make the complicated feel calm.
